Berthold Schmidt, born in Würzburg in 1968, studied physics at the University of Würzburg, earned his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich, and joined the research and development department of the TRUMPF SE + Co. KG Group in 2013. Since then, he has held key positions, including Director of the Central Corporate Research Department (2015), CEO of TRUMPF Photonics Inc. (USA, 2016), and, from 2023, Member of the Management Board as CTO.

As CTO, Schmidt focuses on advancing future-oriented fields related to EUV, electronics, photonics and new business areas. His international leadership experience and interdisciplinary expertise make him a respected voice in discussions on technological transformation, innovation, and forward-looking entrepreneurship.
