– there is only one. As a World Cup winner in 1990—first as goalscorer and later as head of the national team – he has created moments that are indelibly etched into the collective memory. To this day, his voice is regarded as one of the most authentic in German sport: clear, human, and unifying.
Born in 1960 in Hanau, Rudi Völler earned 90 international caps for Germany, scoring 47 goals. His club career included Werder Bremen, AS Roma, Olympique Marseille, and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. With Marseille he won the Champions League in 1993, and with the national team he became World Champion in 1990. After moving into management, he shaped the sporting direction of Bayer 04 Leverkusen for more than two decades and led the German national team to the 2002 World Cup final as team manager.
Today, he serves as Director of the National Team alongside head coach Julian Nagelsmann and, like few others, embodies down-to-earth values, leadership strength, and the power of shared principles. His experience at the intersection of elite performance, team spirit, and public responsibility makes him a highly sought-after figure far beyond football.
